Strengths Based Coaching, Unlocking a new Level of Success

During the fifties and sixties, Dr. Donald O. Clifton was a popular professor of educational psychology and researcher at the University of Nebraska, where he first began his experimentation with strengths. He was chairman of Selection Research Inc. and later chairman of Gallup. Clifton was recognized with a Presidential Commendation from the American Psychological Association as the Father of Strengths-based Psychology and the Grandfather of Positive Psychology.

His research led to the CliftonStrengths, a powerful online assessment released in 1999. The assessment has been used by most Fortune 500 companies, along with hundreds of schools and universities.

His passion was centered around the question;

"What will happen when we think about what is right with people rather than fixating on what is wrong with them?"

He spent his life researching and teaching human development, discovering the true power of people, developing their innate talents to lead productive lives of high value and high well-being.

Employees and managers today are looking for a different life proposition form those of their predecessors, people want a sense of meaning and purpose in their jobs and lives. By investing in their innate talents and developing their understanding of their strengths, we can help individuals and teams deliver consistent, high performance in a range of specific tasks.

In the best organisations, employees who received strengths-based development were found to have

18%

Increased performance.

Strengths-based performance coaching leads to higher engagement, which can lead to the greater retention of talented employees, reducing recruitment and training costs and increasing profit opportunities.

People who have an opportunity to use their talents and strengths are:

6 X more likely to be engaged at their jobs…

6 X as likely to strongly agree that they have the opportunity to do what they do best every day…

3 X as likely to report having an excellent quality of life.
